Over the holiday season one of my favourite drinks to whip up was Cranberry Cider. Christmas was obviously much quieter than usual and I didn’t make my normal chocolate liqueur this year. Next time I do make a bottle I’ll be sure to take a picture so I can upload as a recipe to this site. Think drinking an alcoholic version of a Dairy Milk, which suits my sweet tooth!
Flavoured Cider
I know you can buy loads of flavoured ciders from the supermarket nowadays. My favourite being toffee apple which is great for baking. I also like a strawberry and rhubarb cider but sometimes you can’t beat the original.
Cranberries
For this recipe I used fresh cranberry juice with no added sugar. I like the sharpness that the cranberry, orange and lemon brings to the sweetness of the apple cider. Although this drink is a treat the superfood properties of the cranberries tick a box. Like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries they are high in anti-oxidants and vitamin C.
Apple Cider
For this recipe I find a simple, sparkling apple cider works best. You want to make sure the addition of the cranberry and citrus fruits keep it a light, fresh drink. The sprig of rosemary also adds an interesting aromatic flavour.
Serving Size
I’ve kept the serving size of this recipe to one glass. Remember you can scale the ingredients by adjusting the serving size in the top right of the recipe card. As it only takes a couple of minutes to put together I recommend you make this right before you are about to serve.
