I love making my own granola. It is super easy to do and makes a special breakfast of cereal a little bit more special. I have two basic granola recipes.
The one I have used in this recipe and another one using peanut butter. You can then add can mix and make what you add in. Some of my favourites are cashew nuts, sultanas, banana chips and freeze dried mango. It is great way to use up whatever is in your store cupboard. I usually don’t buy something new to add into my homemade granola.

You can easily make this Dark Chocolate and Cherry Granola suitable for a gluten and/or dairy free diet. Just use gluten free oats and dairy free dark chocolate chips.

Dark Chocolate and Cherry Granola

Preheat the oven to 150 oC
Heat the sugar, cinnamon, oil and honey in a small saucepan for 3-5 minutes
Place the oats in a large bowl and pour over the mix
Stir well until the oats are coated
Spread out on a lined baking sheet
Bake for 15 minutes, stir the granola and return to the oven for another 15 minutes
Allow to cool then stir through the cherries and chocolate chips
